National Film Awards had some encouraging news for Assam as several
awards came to the state, with “juye poora xoon” directed by
Sanjeev Sabha Pandit bagging the best film on Environment Conservation
and preservation. Eminent Film director Jahnu Baruah was back in action
and his film “Tora” was adjudged the Best Children’s Film.
The film was produced by Children’s Film Society of India.
In the category of Best Feature Film in Regional Languages, the Award
for Best film in Assamese went to “Akashitorar Kothare” directed
by Manju Borah and produced by Sangeeta Tamuli. The Award for the
Best Female playback Singer went to Tarali Sarma for her
tuneful rendition of a devotional song without instruments accompaniment
in the film “Akashitorar Kothare” .She has been awarded Rajat
Kamal.
For “Juye Poora Xoon“, director and producer of the film ,
Sanjeev Sabha Pandit has been awarded Rajat Kamal , which carries a case
prize of Rs. 30,000.the award to “Juye Poora Xoon“ was given for
its representation of large -scale migration and erosion of a way of
life by floods and industrialization, the citation said.
Noted director Jahnu Boruah has been awarded “Swarna Kamal” for
his much acclaimed children’s film. The film was awarded for showing how
a child brought down the boundaries and barriers created by adult’s .The
Award for Best Assamese Film was given for its juxtaposition of a
women’s search for her cultural heritage and it’s lost.
The 16 member Jury for National Awards for Feature Film and for Best
Writing on Cinema headed by noted film director Basu Chatterjee
deliberated over two weeks to finalize awards. At least 122 entries were
considered for a National Awards this year. |
